According to a studio directory in the 18 Feb 1928 Exhibitors Herald and Moving Picture World, production began 18 Jan 1928.
       Painted Post marked Tom Mix's final release for Fox Film Corp., the company with which he had been associated for more than ten years and had produced scores of Mix's popular Westerns. Mix subsequently went on to make a number of films for F.B.O./RKO, then Universal Pictures, but never regained the enormous popularity he enjoyed with his 1920s Fox films.
