While stranded in a tank town with her burlesque troupe, Goldie receives a message from her roommate Lulu, in the city, that her sweetheart, Jimmy, has been arrested. Desperate and penniless, she stows away on a train and bumps into Mack, a city detective, who learns of her plight and pays her fare. It develops that Jimmy has been released through the intercession of cafe owner and racketeer Joe Palmer, who also has given him a job. Mack persuades Goldie to take a dancing job with Palmer so as to secure evidence against him. When she tips off the police about a planned bank robbery, Jimmy is suspected of the betrayal, but Goldie convinces Palmer of his innocence. Later, to save Goldie, Jimmy tells Palmer that he did divulge the information; and as he is about to be pushed from a skyscraper, Goldie brings the police to the rescue.
