SYNOPSIS

When Seth Cartwright abandons Bernice Archer, his mistress, and returns to his wife and Seth, Jr., Bernice deserts Lorna, her illegitimate child, in a deranged daze. With full knowledge of the girl's parentage, Mrs. Cartwright generously adopts Lorna, but both she and Seth are killed in a shipwreck that coincidentally reunites Lorna with her real mother. On the advice of his doctor, Seth, Jr., now a college student, decides to vacation in the seaside town where Lorna and Bernice live, and a romance between the unsuspecting half-siblings soon develops. After the young couple is castaway overnight on a sea cliff, they are questioned rigorously by Bernice. Seth, Jr. declares his intention to marry Lorna, but when Herman Schwab, his guardian and his father's former partner, arrives to approve of the match, he recognizes Bernice and prohibits the union. Destroyed by the revelation, Lorna commits suicide in the ocean ... +
