SYNOPSIS

Seeing her dressed in rugged clothes, Dick, a rich broker on a country vacation, mistakes Elsie Dunbar for a farmer's daughter and falls in love with her. In turn, Elsie mistakes Dick for a hired hand and falls in love with him. On a train trip from the city, Dick accidentally picks up a bag belonging to Spike, a burglar, and is followed by Detective Pinkarter. Unaware of her residence, Dick spies Elsie entering the Dunbar home that night, concludes that she is a thief and follows her inside. Spike soon arrives, and all three are apprehended by Pinkarter. At Dick's naïve request, Pinkarter opens the bag and finds Spike's burglar tools. Convinced that Dick is a thief, Elsie dismisses him after proving her true identity to Pinkarter. Later, Dick attends a dinner given by the Dunbars and is surprised to see Elsie. Several misunderstandings later, the snarl of identities untangles, and the couple ... +
