SYNOPSIS

Independent but sentimental Amy Cary, the owner of a controlling interest in the People's Gas Company, falls prey to the scheming of Norman Van Aulsten, her fiancé, and his father, the company's vice-president. Aided by Norman's romantic affiliation, the Van Aulstens plot to unload some worthless stock on the young woman and follow her to Trout Lake Camp, her summer retreat. While Norman seduces the camp guide's daughter, Amy meets a friend's brother, Bob Nelson, an attorney who takes an immediate interest in her affairs. After some investigation, Nelson uncovers the Van Aulstens' plot, but the trusting Amy refuses to listen to his warnings. Adopting more vigorous methods, Nelson offers to row Amy to an island where her uncle supposedly is fishing. Finding the place empty, Nelson sets the boat adrift and undertakes to demonstrate his worthiness. In the company of Amy's uncle, the Van Aulstens pursue Nelson to the island and attempt to defame him, but he shows himself a physical and moral superior and while saving the gas company, wins Amy's love as ... +
