SYNOPSIS

Hopeful of securing secretarial work, Edna Hall goes to the home of the wealthy Mrs. Stanhope. Instead of a job, however, Edna finds a corpse, as Mrs. Stanhope had been killed just moments before she arrived. Then, Mr. Gardner steps from behind a curtain and tells Edna that authorities surely will think that she is guilty of the murder. Edna runs away, and then marries Harry Leland, whom she later discovers is Mrs. Stanhope's son from a former marriage. Harry is convinced that the woman who visited his mother killed her, and then learns that the visitor has become his wife. Harry throws her out of the house, and Edna, determined to exonerate herself, starts looking for the real murderer. Meeting Gardner once again, she comes to suspect him, and encourages him romantically until she catches him off guard and tricks him to confessing to the authorities, after which she and Harry are quickly ... +
