SYNOPSIS

Having been raised by Marcellus, her widowed father, Penelope Halloway has never learned the dangers that may confront a young woman. Then, after Marcellus dies, it appears that yet another well-intentioned man will shelter Penelope when Jimmy Travers falls in love with her. Penelope, however, does not feel like settling down, and so begins a flirtation with Reginald Rivers, a married man, who easily tricks her into accompanying him to a roadhouse. Jimmy manages to prevent Penelope from spending the night, but when Reginald's wife finds out about the rendezvous, she names Penelope as a corespondent in a divorce case. When she meets Penelope, however, she comes to realize the full extent of her innocence and naïveté, and so removes her name from the suit, after which Penelope eagerly agrees to marry ... +
