SYNOPSIS

Jacques Revilly, an uncouth French farm laborer, tires of his neighbor's insults and decides to move to the Bohemian colony in Paris in order to pursue an art career. One day, he discovers the half-frozen body of Marguerite, a young girl, and takes her to his rooms where he gives her food and clothing.
