SYNOPSIS

Deserted by Richard Mallaby, the man she loved deeply, Mary Livingston goes West in hopes of seeing her father before he dies. Arriving too late, Mary is forced by lack of funds to seek employment at a notorious dance hall where she encounters Mallaby, who attempts to force his attentions upon her. Quitting the dance hall to earn an honest living, Mary is compelled by hunger to steal. After being caught, she is befriended by Watt Tabor, whom she marries to avoid being sent to prison. Mallaby then demands that Tabor give up Mary, but he refuses. His decision results in a battle between the two men which takes place in a mine shaft. During the struggle, a disgruntled employee blows up the mine and Tabor drags his opponent from the swiftly flooding shaft. With a choice between the two men, Mary then pledges her love to ... +
