The Tenth Case was released on 17 December 1917, preceded by openings on 6 December 1917 at the Castle Theatre in South Bend, IN, and on 9 December 1917 at the Phillips Egypt Theatre in Fort Worth, TX. A review in the 22 December 1917 Motion Picture News commended first-time director George Kelson and screenwriter Robert Hull, credited only as “Budd.” The 23 February 1918 issue stated that the film was doing average business throughout the U.S.
The National Film Preservation Board (NFPB) included this film on its list of Lost U.S. Silent Feature Films as of February 2021.

Spurred by her father's financial difficulties, Claudia Payton marries Jerome Landis for his wealth, but then finds happiness with him and their infant son. However, money troubles continue to plague Claudia after Jerome's nephew, Harry, plays on her sympathies to obtain an allowance. When Claudia is no longer able to give him money, Harry schemes to destroy her marriage by appearing in her bedroom, thus creating a compromising situation. The plan works and Jerome sues for divorce. Fearing that Judge Wallace will deny Claudia custody of her child, she enlists the aid of her friend, Sanford King, to frame the judge's wife in a similar circumstance. The judge grants the divorce but allows Claudia custody for six months out of the year. Later, Harry is fatally injured in an automobile accident and makes a death-bed confession that exonerates Claudia. Jerome realizes the terrible wrong that he has done his wife and begs her ...
