SYNOPSIS

The young Lord Mainwaring travels to California from England to regain his health and to attend to business matters for his father. He stays in the Sierras with his father's friend, wealthy lumberjack John Bradley, and falls in love with Bradley's daughter, who nurses him to health. Minty, the blacksmith's untutored, tomboyish daughter, falls in love with Mainwaring. When Mainwaring's letter of proposal to Bradley's daughter never reaches her, he concludes that she has refused him. Having lost all his money, Mainwaring leaves California. Minty's father strikes a gold vein, and years later, the wealthy Minty meets the destitute Mainwaring in Switzerland. After she saves him from death, they fall in love and ... +
