SYNOPSIS

To defuse tensions between the tiny European countries of Kurland and Arcacia, the King of Kurland suggests a marriage between his son, the crown prince, and Angela, the Princess of Arcacia. The tempestuous Angela rejects the idea, but the prince, visiting Arcacia in the guise of a count, is determined to secure the union. Unaware of his true mission, Angela grows enamored of the count, but finally heeds his warnings about impending war and agrees to marry the prince. After stumbling onto a political conspiracy within the Arcacian court, the count woos Countess Varensa, one of the plotters, hoping to gain more information, and is seen in an embrace by Angela. Jealous, Angela runs from the court and is captured by Kurland soldiers but is rescued finally by the count.
