SYNOPSIS

Mavis defies her grandfather and runs away with Herbert Whitman, a man of social standing but of poor character. He plants a stolen necklace on her and attempts to have her arrested when he comes under suspicion. She then seeks refuge with young Jimmy Ryder; and after she claims to be Mrs. Ryder, Jimmy agrees to make the title legal. Gradually, he comes to love her. Meanwhile, Whitman bribes ex-convict La Marche to steal a jewel from his sister, Dorothy. Jimmy captures the thief, who at first refuses to confess; Dorothy then accuses Mavis of the theft, but she is cleared by La Marche and Whitman is ...
