As Eve's fortunes dwindle, she goes to great lengths to cover her losses. Eve meets Alma, a young woman who was formerly in the same financial situation as herself and, as a result, entered into illegal stock transactions. At a party given by Denton, who was blackmailing Alma, Eve and Adam and Alma and Denton enter into a game in which couples are given a dime and expected to spend the money adventurously in the city and then tell of their experiences to other party guests. During the adventure, Eve, who is paired with Denton, is trapped by her partner and must be rescued by Alma and Adam. During a struggle, Denton is killed and Alma is wounded, causing her to become temporarily deranged.
