Film Sales Corporation in spring 1923, Film Booking Offices of America (F.B.O.) acquired Mary of the Movies and scheduled it for a 20 May 1923 release. However, a 24 May 1923 Var news item indicated that the release date had been pushed to 27 May 1923.
On 6 Jun 2010, Var reported that Mary of the Movies was one of over seventy films discovered in a storage vault belonging to the New Zealand Film Archive. Described as the “first surviving film from Columbia Pictures,” the print found was said to be “incomplete.” An article in the 7 Jun 2010 NYT indicated that the various films would be “repatriated” to the U.S., where they would be painstakingly preserved. ...
