Sonya Rokoff is hired by European promoters to close West Coast Chinatowns to tourists. She teams up with scientist Victor Poten, who is Eurasian but hates Asians and who uses clever technical inventions to carry out his evil plans, such as gas bombs, a tele-audient machine which allows him to spy on people, and a death ray created out of a goldfish bowl and the sun's rays. When Joan Whiting, a society page columnist who is looking for a hard-hitting story to advance her career, learns of the increasing violence in the local Chinatown, she asks novelist Martin Andrews to help her discover more about the problem. A series of terrorist acts are perpetrated by Sonya and Poten, all of which Joan and Martin solve in various ingenious ways. They are helped by both Willy Fu, Martin's servant, and Dr. Wu, who leads the Chinese merchants in their fight against Sonya. Sonya and Poten, meanwhile, receive assistance from their henchmen, including Grogan and a hypnotized man disguised as an idol, called "The God." Finally, Sonya sees the error of her ways and works with Martin and Joan to stop Poten. When she detects a trap set for Martin, she rushes to protect him and is killed. Soon after, Martin recognizes Poten in one of his disguises and turns him in to the police.
