Tim Malloy is about to finish a cattle roundup when rancher Clay Stevens hires some rustlers to steal his animals and frame a group of nesters as the thieves. As a result, McCabe, Tim's boss, joins Stevens in a range war against the homesteaders. Tim quits his job and sides with the nesters, even though he is jeopardizing his relationship with McCabe's daughter Jane. In retaliation, Stevens hires a wanted man named Tex Ravelle, who is Tim's look-alike, to take Tim's place and lead the nesters into a death trap. Tim, however, outwits his captors, kills Tex and, following a bloody gun battle, shoots Stevens.
