Brothers Spider and Jake Mitchell watch Tim Walker herding horses, and become afraid that he is taking away from their business. In reprisal, they scatter the herd from his corral. Tim captures Spider, who claims to own the land, but Tim argues that he has leased the property from Lon Seagrue. Jake disputes Tim's claim and warns him not to go south of Shot-Gun Pass. As they leave, Jake tells Spider to shoot Tim the next time he enters the pass. In the town saloon, Jake finds Lon drunk upstairs. Back at the pass, Tim meets his girl friend, Sally Seagrue, and he promises to find her missing brother. The Mitchell brothers try to force Lon to sign a new lease agreement with them, but Tim and his men, Sagebrush and Shorty, arrive in time to stop them. Lon is rescued during a huge fight, then rides off on Tim's pinto. Tim, realizing that Lon is still in danger, pursues him. Before Tim can reach him, however, Spider shoots Lon as he goes through the pass. Tim takes the wounded Lon back to Sally, and they telephone Doc Gordon for help. The Mitchell brothers discover that Lon is not dead and realize that their plan has failed. Tim looks for evidence at the shooting sight, and finds an empty cartridge and the imprint of Spider's belt in the clay. Tim cuts out the clay imprint, and takes it to the Sheriff, who then arrests Jake. Back at the pass, the Mitchells have built a fence, and demand that Tim pay them two dollars a head to take his horses through. Sagebrush sets a charge of dynamite at the base of the fence to destroy the barricade, but Sally rides into the pass unexpectedly and Tim saves her with only moments to spare. The fence is blown up, and the horses trample Spider as they run through. A week later, with their herd successfully delivered to the army, Tim and Sally are back in each other's arms.
