The film was reviewed in Photoplay as Madelon , which listed Jane Winton's character as "Grace Darling." Melody of Love was the first feature length, all-dialogue sound film produced by Universal Pictures. It was shot in one week at Fox Movietone Studio in Westwood, CA. The short schedule was necessitated by Fox's unwillingness to rent their sound stages to Universal for a longer period of time. SYNOPSIS

During the Great War, Jack Clark, a songwriter in love with chorus girl Flo Thompson, enlists in the Army and is sent to France where he meets Madelon, a little French singer who falls madly in love with him. Jack is wounded in combat and loses the use of his right arm; returning to the United States, he is jilted by Flo and becomes a derelict. Madelon, meantime, crosses the ocean and finds work singing in a cabaret; Jack finds her by chance and, in his excitement at seeing her once again, recovers the use of the arm.
