SYNOPSIS

Desperate to pay off the mortgage on her late father's estate, Nell Carroll takes a job with a detective agency and, posing as the Baroness Du Vassey, goes to Palm Beach to round up a gang of crooks fleecing wealthy hotel guests. She soon falls in love with businessman Teddy De Veaux, but before their romance can develop, one of the crooks, aware of her disguise, claims to be the Baron Du Vassey. With this sudden acquisition of a husband she has never met, Nell leaves Palm Beach embarrassed and disgraced for having flirted with Teddy. Back home, after failing as a detective, Nell goes to see the man who holds the mortgage to beg for an extension on the payments.
