Triangle Film Corp.Filming took place at Triangle Pictures Corp.’s studio in Culver City, CA, as noted in the 23 August 1918 Variety, which claimed that some of the costliest sets ever made were constructed for this film. Child actor Irene Yeager was listed as a cast member in the 10 August 1918 and 24 August 1918 issues of Motion Picture News. The latter stated that “finishing touches” were being put on the film. Theatrical release followed on 8 September 1918. A review in the 13 September 1918 Variety called the picture “unreal and fantastic but not without interest” and described lead actress Gloria Swanson as “a rather prepossessing woman.”

Senator John Calhoun Rand marries Sally Carter, a woman fifteen years his junior, and then finds, because of America's declaration of war on Germany, that he must devote all of his time to his work. Lola Walling, who plays the role of patriotic confidant to the senator so that she may gather secret information for the German government, realizes that Baron de Vorjeck of the Russian embassy is very fond of Sally and encourages their friendship. When Rand is assigned to investigate espionage activities in Washington, Mrs. Walling leads him to believe that Sally is sending messages to the Kaiser through the young Russian. Since the messages are encoded into the stitching of crocheted mufflers, Sally's newly acquired interest in crocheting convinces Rand of her guilt, until Secret Service agent Jefferson Harrow locates the spy headquarters and proves Sally innocent. Rand's happiness is doubled when his wife confesses that she has been fashioning jackets for the baby she is ...
