Half brothers Stefane and Antony decide to rob their father, millionaire tycoon Charles Calvert, of $2,000,000 in bank notes which he is transferring by ship from Tangiers to France. To help them carry off the heist, they recruit Duffy, an eccentric American hippie adventurer living in Tangiers. Although dubious at first, Duffy is won over by the prospect of a rich haul and by the seductive Segolene, Stefane's girl friend. Once preparations have been completed, Duffy, Segolene, and Stefane board the ship in disguises and, after a temporary delay in opening the safe, seize the loot. Duffy and Segolene dive overboard with the money and are picked up by Antony, who is waiting for them in a fishing vessel equipped with a helicopter and several fresh cadavers whose pockets have been stuffed with bank notes. Once out of sight of Calvert's ship, the trio board the helicopter and blow up the fishing boat, leaving behind nothing but floating debris and corpses. They reach their hideout on Corsica, and Antony returns to Paris while Duffy and Segolene wait for Stefane to make arrangements for exchanging the currency. Two conflicting cables, presumably from Stefane, lead Duffy to suspect a double-cross. His suspicions are confirmed when he discovers that Segolene is actually Calvert's mistress and that Calvert masterminded the whole scheme in order to keep the stolen money and at the same time collect insurance on it. Duffy quickly contacts the local chief of police and presents Calvert and Segolene with the money, which he claims to have found. The outwitted Calvert has no choice but to give Duffy a $100,000 reward.
