According to various sources, this was Florence Lawrence's first film. The few interiors among the more than twenty scenes of the picture were shot at the Edison Studios at 41 East 21st Street in New York City; exteriors were filmed at Bronx Park, along the Bronx River above East 180th Street in the Bronx. Production took three weeks.
Charlotte Lawrence was Florence Lawrence's mother. Both took their last name from the Lawrence Dramatic Company, a vaudeville troupe they worked for when Florence was still a child, according to Kelly R. Brown's 1999 biography, Florence Lawrence, the Biograph Girl (McFarland & Co.).
