The Blazing Trail was Mary Philbin's feature motion picture debut. Philbin grew up in Chicago where she was friends with Universal studio head Carl Laemmle's niece, Rebekah Isabelle "Carla" Laemmle. She was also a runner-up in the Chicago Herald-Examiner Elks Club beauty contest, and received local billing in Chicago newspaper advertisements for her films as "The Noted Elks' Beauty." She subsequently gained her introduction to the studio through these connections. ...

The Valley of Rogues
Young physician Bradley Yates, on the verge of a nervous collapse in his search for an effective serum to counteract blood poisoning, retires to the Blue Ridge Mountains to regain his health. As a woodsman, he is accepted by his neighbors in a mountain community. When the state enforces the school law and sends a young schoolteacher, a romance develops between her and Yates, but gossip links him with Talithy, a local girl, whom he has been supplying with books. Yates is suspected of seducing Talithy, who has become infatuated with him. However, the arrival of Dr. Forbes, his partner, with the perfected serum and the testimony of an eyewitness clear him, and all ends ...
