According to reveiws, the film was photographed on locations in Jasper National Park, Canada. James Oliver Curwood's short story, "The Country Beyond," first appeared in Comopolitan magazine in Jul 1921 as the first of five related stories. The stories were published in book form in 1922.
       In 1936, Twentieth Century-Fox produced another film entitled The Country Beyond that cited the same James Oliver Curwood book as its source, but that film, which was directed by Eugene Forde and starred Rochelle Hudson and Paul Kelly, bears little resemblance to the 1926 version. ... SYNOPSIS

Roger McKay, who has looted a trader's store to feed some starving Indians, is sought by Sergeant Cassidy of the Northwest Mounted Police, and while hiding out he falls in love with Valencia, a backwoods girl, who he believes is guilty of murdering a white slaver. He takes the blame for her supposed crime; and Valencia, who has a talent for dancing, travels to New York and on Broadway becomes a successful theatrical entertainer. Learning of Roger's sacrifice, she returns to the Northwest; Roger is cleared by a confession of the murdered man's wife, however, and the lovers are happily ... +
