Rolly Sigsby, a society clubman bitterly weary of life, wanders into the middle of a gunfight between the organ and org gangs on the ower ast ide in the hope that he will be killed by a stray bullet. o his disappointment, he emerges unscathed and later goes into auer's chop house, the hangout of the neighborhood thugs, where he meets Kitty, the cashier, to whom he is attracted. Rolly sets out to antagonize both of the local gangs and, in the expectation of his quick demise, marries Kitty, leaving everything to her in his will. Dorgan takes a shot at Rolly, and Kitty steps in front of him, thereby herself getting shot. She recovers from this wound, and Rolly, realizing how much he has come to love her, regains his love of life.
