Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning
On a stormy night, two men dig up the grave of serial killer Jason Voorhees as twelve-year-old Tommy Jarvis watches from the bushes. When they uncover the body, Jason, wearing a hockey mask, comes to life and stabs both men to death. As Jason prepares to stab the terrified boy, Tommy, now a young man, awakens from his nightmare, while being transferred from “Unger Institute of Mental Health” to the “Pinehurst Youth Development Center,” a half-way house for troubled teens. Pinehurst assistant director, Pam Roberts, and doctor Matthew “Matt” Letter welcome him. After meeting the stoic Tommy, Dr. Matt discusses the young man’s file with Pam, and highlights the severe trauma he suffered at age twelve, after he murdered Jason in self-defense. As he unpacks, Tommy shows his monster mask collection to Reggie, the young grandson of Pinehurst’s cook, George. Later, a foul-mouthed townswoman named Ethel arrives to complain about two youths she caught having sex on her property. Later, as troubled teen Victor Faden is chopping wood at Pinehurst, a simple-minded peer named Joey repeatedly annoys him. Victor snaps, and murders Joey with in axe in front of the other youths. Police arrive, including an officer named Roy, and arrest Victor for the homicide, as Tommy stares silently at the bloody corpse. One night, two local boys, Pete and Vinnie, are stranded on a country road when their car breaks down. When Pete walks into the woods, Vinnie is murdered by an unseen killer. Upon returning to his car, Pete’s throat is slashed. Elsewhere, Tommy awakens from a nightmare, and then has visions of Jason wielding ...

Elsewhere, Tommy awakens from a nightmare, and then has visions of Jason wielding an axe. Later, at breakfast, a youth named Eddie jumps out at Tommy while wearing a mask, prompting Tommy to fight him, before Matt intercedes. Meanwhile, a hungry vagrant asks Ethel and her son, Junior, if he can work on their land to earn some food. Ethel tasks the man to clean her chicken coop. Elsewhere, Lana, a local waitress, and her boyfriend, Billy, are the next murder victims. The police blame Jason for the killings, even though he is thought to be deceased. Eddie and Tina later return to Ethel’s property to smoke marijuana and have sex. As the vagrant watches from the bushes, he is stabbed, and Eddie and Tina are also slain. Later, Pam drives Reggie to a trailer park in town to visit his brother, Demon, and she invites Tommy to ride along. When Ethel’s son, Junior, arrives and harasses Tommy at the trailer park, Tommy beats the man before Pam can stop him. After Pam, Reggie, and Tommy leave, Demon and his girlfriend, Anita, are killed. Back at Pinehurst, Pam learns that Matt and George have gone missing after leaving to search for Eddie and Tina. When Tommy also disappears, Pam drives alone to search for them. Elsewhere, Junior returns home to tell his mother, Ethel, that Tommy beat him, and the killer chops off Junior’s head. Ethel is next to be murdered in her kitchen. As Pam searches for her missing friends, her truck breaks down, and she walks back alone. Pinehurst youths, Jake, Robin, and Violet are murdered in their bedrooms, and Reggie later finds their bodies in Tommy’s room. The masked killer pursues Reggie, but Pam returns and flees into the woods with the boy. When she and Reggie become separated during the rainy night, Pam stumbles upon the dead bodies of Matt and Reggie’s grandfather, George. As the killer descends upon Pam, Reggie runs him over with a bulldozer. Believing him to be dead, they hover over his body, but he revives and chases Pam and Reggie into a barn. There, Pam attacks the killer with a chainsaw, but it soon stalls. Tommy arrives to rescue Pam and faces off with the killer, begging “Jason” to spare him. However, the masked man slashes him. Tommy stabs the man with his pocketknife before Pam pulls him to safety in the barn loft, and Tommy falls unconscious from his stab wounds. As Pam is about to be overpowered, Tommy awakens, and pushes the killer to his death. Behind the mask, the killer is revealed to be police officer Roy, who was the secret father of Joey, the boy murdered by Victor. Roy pretended to be Jason so he could enact the revenge killings. While recovering in the hospital, Tommy has a nightmare in which he murders Pam, and awakens in a cold sweat. After experiencing another vision of Jason, Tommy removes Jason’s mask from a drawer. When Pam hears window glass breaking, she enters Tommy’s hospital room, and he appears in the dark behind her, with a knife, ready to strike.
